
Dolby Laboratories has announced Dolby Vision 2, a major upgrade to its industry-leading HDR (High Dynamic Range) technology, aimed at delivering next-generation picture quality on modern TVs.
The new system includes:
- A powerful new image engine that unlocks more performance from today’s advanced displays.
- Content Intelligence tools that use AI to automatically optimize visuals based on content type and viewing environment.
- Features include Precision Black (improved dark scene clarity), Light Sense (ambient light adjustment), and Sports and Gaming Optimization (motion and white point enhancements).
- Bi-directional tone mapping and Authentic Motion offer creators more control, enabling brighter, more colorful, and smoother visuals.
Dolby Vision 2 will be available in two versions:
- Dolby Vision 2 Max: For high-end TVs with maximum feature support.
- Dolby Vision 2: Brings core improvements to mainstream TVs.
Adoption Highlights:
- Hisense will be the first TV brand to implement Dolby Vision 2 in its RGB-MiniLED TVs, powered by MediaTek’s Pentonic 800 chip.
- CANAL+, the French media giant, is the first content provider to support Dolby Vision 2 across its movies, series, and live sports.
The announcement reflects Dolby’s commitment to evolving TV picture quality and empowering content creators with more advanced visual tools.
